In 2006, I was in your exact position. As an Instructor Pilot in my Air Force squadron, I was navigating the process of converting my military flight experience into an FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating through the military competency route. Like many of you, I found the requirements and procedures somewhat overwhelming at first.

What to bring to appointment
Have available your unexpired government issued ID, proof of medical and FAA commercial pilot certificate along with a computer able to log into IACRA.
