Please reach me via voice or text at (269) 720-4772 or haifleytodd@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I can't schedule you for your checkride until you are completely signed off in IACRA and endorsed to take the checkride by your instructor.
If there are no dates showing available on my calendar I am unfortunately booked up. Requests for checkrides will not be taken if there are no dates available. Check back periodically because things may open up throughout the month as my schedule does change as the month goes on.
All tests are requested via the "Request Checkride" button in the menu above. If you have any questions, please text: (269) 720-4772 or email: haifleytodd@gmail.com
A soft slot means you can request to schedule that slot knowing that there is a possibility I may have to cancel/re-schedule. These slots are available on days that I am "on call" with my civilian employer and if I am needed I will contact you as soon as I know. In essence you schedule these slots knowing that there is a chance I will need to cancel or reschedule. I would ask that if you are already scheduled with another examiner that you communicate with them as well.
Practical test cost will be emailed to each Applicant upon confirmation of test date. Cost is typically $800-$1500 depending on type of test and location.
Admin issuance (Military Competency, SOE restriction removal, Restricted ATP removal, etc.): $150
Note: Cash and check are the only acceptable forms of payment. WMU students can use their student accounts.
Retest from a prior Disapproval from me:
Ground and Flight is full cost of original practical test.
Flight retest only is normally half the cost of original practical test.
Retest from another Examiner will be provided upon test date confirmation, cost depends on number of ACS tasks remaining. Typically $600-$900.
If our practical test is discontinued because of weather, maintenance or any other reasonable case beyond your control, there is no charge to reschedule and fly. The checkride fee that is initially charged is non-refundable once the test starts. This fee is not only for the practical test, but covers the administrative time required to coordinate the practical test, examiners time to develop the Plan of Action for the Applicant, examiners time to obtain pre-approval from the FAA to conduct the test, and examiners time to complete all required paperwork due to the FAA after our meeting(s).
Discontinuances for reasons within your control (sleep, not feeling prepared, work schedule, not checking NOTAMs for closures, etc) are normally charged $200/hr for whatever tasks remain. This fee also applies to "personal weather minimum" Discontinuances where there is no doubt that the ACS tasks can be completed, the weather is VFR and well within the aircrafts capabilities, but the Applicant does not want to fly due to higher-than-normal personal weather minimums that may not be realistic or reasonable.
You can search the following website to find the closest DPE to your area:

Currently I conduct my checkrides at Three Rivers Municipal Dr. Haines (KHAI). It is located 17nm south of Kalamazoo/ Battle Creek International (KAZO).
Once you are scheduled I will email you a checklist type information sheet that will contain everything you need to bring to the practical test. It will also include the scenario we will be basing the ground and flight evaluation on as well as my weight and balance information.
Feel free to browse the resource page on this website for more information and resources.
Administrative action only appointments that don't involve a ground or flight evaluation can be scheduled by contacting me directly at (269) 720-4772. Examples of these are:
ATP restriction removal, SOE restriction removal, Military Competency issuance etc.
Possibly, you will first need to take the Military Competency Instructor written exam. After successfully passing that I can issue the appropriate certification. every situation is unique based on what you were an IP on so feel free to contact me to discuss your options (269) 720-4772.
You can do this one of 2 ways:
1. Obtain another instructor certification, i.e., CFII, MEI or Glider rating and that will reinstate all previous instructor certs you let expire.
2. Take a CFI reinstatement checkride with a DPE. What you will need to accomplish on this ride can be found in the CFI ACS page 99- Renewal or Reinstatement of a Flight Instructor Table. IF you held a CFI, CFII or MEI previously you can take a reinstatement ride for any of these and it will reinstate all of them.
